About the Role

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Snowmaking Team Lead is a key member of the Mountain Operations team. This role ensures the snowmaking equipment is operated safely and in accordance with company procedures and departmental training. This role works cooperatively with other staff and continually strives to provide our guests the finest mountain recreational experience by providing safe and well-maintained terrain.

Requirements

Accountabilities

  • Operate snowmaking and related equipment in a safe and responsible manner

  • Maintain daily snowmaking log

  • Perform pre- and post-operation checks

  • Perform daily light maintenance on equipment (topping up fluids, cleaning interior and exterior, greasing, and fuelling of machine as needed)

  • Layout, connect and charge hoses (setup)

  • Discharge, disconnect, thaw and drain hoses (teardown)

  • Activate and deactivate snowmaking pump

  • Recognize and report any potential hazards to Grooming Team, Mountain Safety, and/or Maintenance Manager as appropriate and assist in emergency situations

  • Recognize and report any unusual situations (unusual noises, poor production quality, etc.)

  • Provide assistance to maintenance staff and assist with other general duties as assigned

  • Perform snow removal and snow farming (including snowmaking and snow fencing)

  • Monitor and adjust snow gun as required

  • Performance management


Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic operations and maintenance of equipment

  • Basic understanding of mountain resort maintenance and ski / snowboarding terrain needs

  • Previous experience with snowmaking or terrain building an asset

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evening or night shifts

  • Must be physically capable of operating and maintaining equipment

  • This role will be exposed for brief periods to extreme weather conditions at the resort (snow, wind, cold) in isolated areas

  • This role involves working with high voltage and high water pressure.
