About the Role

As a prep cook at Tyax Lodge & Heliskiing you will be part of a culinary team executing memorable dining experiences for our guests. You will work under the leadership of our Head Chef and assist with food preparation for our in house meals, preparation of heliskiing lunch boxes and other tasks. You exhibit a strong positive attitude, a strong willingness to learn and develop your skills as well as an exceptional work ethics. You have an eagerness to be supportive of and be supported by a wide variety of personalities within a large, like-minded team.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
Ensures a great guest dining experience is created by working within the culinary team
Prepares the necessary ingredients for cooking as directed by the team, meeting dietary requirements where required
Preparing some dishes such as salads, sandwiches and other less complex menu items
Follow recipes and presentation specifications
Assist in preparing nutritious staff meals for our hard working team under instruction
Clean and maintain stations in practicing good safety and sanitation
Washing cutlery and dishes when needed, monitors the water temperature to ensure a sanitary wash cycle
Setting out and organizing cooking ingredients before each shift and refill as necessary
Receiving/storing of supplies, organizes kitchen and storage areas as instructed by the head chef
Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
Cleans and maintains kitchen areas and equipment as requested by culinary leadership
Report any functional or mechanical problems to the Head Chef immediately
Maintains set standards around Health & Safety
Ensures adherence to all culinary standards set out by Tyax leadership

Requirements

  • Previous cooking experience in any capacity

  • Must possess strong verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational skills

  • Responsible, dependable and available to work all shifts including, early mornings, evenings, and weekends

  • A strong willingness and desire to learn and develop one’s skills and to grow

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, have good time management skills and excellent attention to detail.

  • Must be able to prioritize and organize multiple tasks

  • Must be self-disciplined with a sincere desire to provide excellent customer service

  • Must be a team player

  • Able to work independently in an unsupervised environment to execute daily tasks on time and of a high quality

  • BC Food Safe Level 1 is an asset


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Will be required to be on your feet for extended periods of time.

May be required to lift up to 70lbs


Salary/Wage

$19 per hour plus gratuities
