Tyax Lodge and Heliskiing is a full service wilderness lodge offering world class heliskiing and summer experiences to guests from all over the world. We are seeking like-minded individuals with a true passion for the hospitality industry and the great outdoors.
As the Food and Beverage Manager at Tyax Lodge and Heliskiing you will oversee both our winter and summer Food and Beverage program. You will work closely together with our Executive Chef to create outstanding guest experiences in our dining room. You will plan, organize, evaluate and direct the operations of the department. It is the responsibility of the Food and Beverage Manager to ensure that all front of house employees are delivering exceptional service, making the guest’s wellbeing their number one priority. You will report directly to the Lodge Manager.
Requirements
Operate according to the policies, procedures, quality standards and services established by the company
Provide in-depth knowledge of company’s products and services
Responsible for maintaining a cheerful, courteous disposition and a neat, clean and professional image with the ability to maintain a calm demeanor in a fast paced, high intensity environment
Ensure practice of health and safety regulations, all safety and sanitation policies are followed when handling food and beverage
Follow the regulations set forth by the B.C. Liquor Control and Licensing Branch
Interview, hire, train, coach and supervise and performance manage all service staff in responsible beverage service, table service, specialty coffees, bartending, processing dinner reservations and related service duties
Ensure daily, weekly and monthly cleaning duties are fulfilled as per requirements and training received
Ensure closing duties and cash out requirements are completed as per training received
Control and check of order placement
Maintenance and reproduction of wine and cocktail menus
Responsible for F&B department scheduling
Operate and manage POS and reservation system
Managing floor plans and flow of the daily operations, or designate as needed.
Hands-on support during shifts.
Provide full knowledge of dining menus, garnishes, contents and preparation methods
Ensure drink and food orders are taken and serviced within reasonable time
Maximize food and beverage revenues through suggestive selling methods
Handle all special requests and complaints quickly and appropriately
Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the culinary team
Communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, length of wait, recooking of orders, and product availability
Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverages
Ensure all F&B Tyax service standards are followed.
Inventory control, orders, and admin duties
Report all concerns related to Engineering/Maintenance, Health and Safety, Security or Suspicious circumstances (including smells/sights and sound) immediately to the appropriate supervisors and managers
Review costs, drink menu pricing and revenues, assist in setting budgets for future seasons
Other duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:
Diploma or degree in hospitality or tourism management or a related field
Must have Serving it Right certificate
Must have a min. 3 years experience as a Food and Beverage Manager or Supervisor in a similar resort setting; fine dining experience required
Must have an extensive wine knowledge and fine dining experience
A self starter with strong interest in developing and caring for the Tyax Food and Beverage programme
Responsible and adaptable with a poised and friendly attitude
Must have outstanding attention to detail and set high standards
Strong ability to multitask
Must be flexible in regards to scheduling and working shifts
Must possess outstanding communication, interpersonal, organizational, leadership and customer service skills and be a team player
