About the Role

As a First Cook and Junior Sous Chef you will work with Chef Lyndsie Simmons to gain experience in a fast-paced, professional environment. We have an excellent kitchen, two kitchens in one: we offer casual seaside dining in Herons Dining Room and classic pub fare in the HBI Pub.
Requirements
1+ year experience in a full-service restaurant preferred but training for the right candidate
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to Head Chef or Manager on Duty
Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff while ensuring a speedy output
Ensure meals are plated consistently as per Chef’s direction and standards, with high quality and in a timely fashion
Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
Clean up station and take care of leftover food
Stock inventory appropriately
Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
must be able to lift 50lbs
Focus detailing on consistent presentation of food
A team player with good communication skills
Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
Ability to follow recipe and menu directions for quality production
Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
Must be fluent in English, second language an asset
Current Food Safe Certificate
First Aid certificates are an asset
Must possess valid work authorization to work in Canada.
Salary/Wage
$19. - $24.
