RESPONSIBILITIES OF A DIRECTOR OF SALES
• Embodies a forward thinking, collaborative, and positive mindset; Actively promotes a positive and growth mindset throughout the hotel
• Leads and develops the sales team to achieve their highest potential in concert with our strategic plan and direction
• Directs and manages all sales training, yearly sales targets, sales quotas, the incentive plan, and all other corporate and hotel learning required to maintain the most effective sales professionals in the market
• Manages Human Resource activities for the sales team including development reviews, performance discipline, training, hiring, onboarding, coaching
• Ensures Marriott sales systems are utilized to maximize efficiencies within the sales team
• Working with Human Resources, assesses systems training needs for sales team Facilitates team building within the sales team
• Participates in hotel led community volunteering opportunities and hotel meetings
• Manages and develops relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
• Responsible for developing yearly budgets and monthly forecasts in collaboration with the Director of Revenue
• Involved in monthly financial reviews with executive leadership team

• Actively participates in executive leadership training
• Manages the development of strategic goals and action plans to increase revenue and increase market share based on hotel strategic plan
• Identifies new markets and business opportunities
• Builds and strengthens relations with existing and new clients to enable future bookings
• Represents hotel in various external events and exhibition (virtually and/or in person)
• Conducts daily sales calls and arrange site inspection trips to hotels by corporate clients
• Provides quick and timely responses, immediate communication to the properties, develop professional long term business relationships
• Always provide the highest quality of service to clients
• Participates in sales calls with members of sales team to acquire new business and/or close on business.
• Executes and supports the operational aspects of business booked (e.g. writing contract, customer correspondence)
• Work collaboratively with the Director of Revenue Management to ensure proposed rate negotiations meet the financial goals / strategic direction of the hotels
• Closely following up on all business leads within a 24-hour response timeline to clients
• Keeps informed and Knowledgeable about the competitive set in each city area and on top of market share statistics
• Performs other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs
• Manages all corporate transient contracts and Marriott’s Global RFP’s’

Requirements

• Minimum 3 to 4 years’ experience in sales, full-service hotel experience preferred

• Diploma or Degree in Hospitality, an asset

• Superior written and oral communication skills

• Must have knowledge of CI/TY

• Polished personal presentation with warmth, confident and hospitable

• Computer savvy- knowledge on a variety of computer software applications including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn multiple internal Marriott systems

• Possesses good understanding of STAR reports, market shares, price positioning and revenue management

• Strong problem solving and negotiating skills

• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to set priorities for self

• Must be willing to work in Kamloops, BC

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
