About the Role
the Concierge/Valet person plays a key role in attending to the immediate needs of each guest, from their initial arrival at the hotel through to their final departure. This role is responsible for, among other duties, transporting luggage to and from guestrooms, acting as a constant source of information to guests throughout their stay, and helping maintain a genuine and helpful presence in the Hotel Lobby and Front Door areas of the hotel.
Requirements
Provide luggage assistance to guests upon arrival and departure.
Act as a commanding presence at the Front Door, Front Drive, and Lobby areas.
Provide seamless and efficient valet car park service, parking and retrieving vehicles as required.
Immediately resolve guest concerns as they arise to ensure complete guest satisfaction.
Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
Accommodate all telephone, beeper and radio requests in a congenial manner.
Legibly complete all luggage and car park tickets to ensure order and accuracy.
Relay accurate directions to guests’ desired destination within local area and distribute maps with highlighted routes.
Additional duties as required.
Qualification Standards
Experience: Minimum of 2 year previous experience in a similar capacity, preferably in a luxury to ultra-luxury hotel environment.
Visa Requirements: Proof of eligibility to work in Canada is required.
Must possess valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract.
Skills/Knowledge Required
A strong knowledge of the local area, including street grid layouts, key attractions, and recommended dining options.
Demonstrated ability to work with maximum accuracy, efficiency and attention to detail, maintaining a keen sense of urgency at all times.
Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
Must be self-directed, motivated and demonstrate exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
Excellent ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and openly in all interactions.
Ability to actively demonstrate initiative in job performance, including anticipating what needs to be done before it becomes a necessity.
Excels in a team environment.
Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to meet the business needs of a 24/7 hotel environment, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 100 lbs on a regular and continuing basis.
Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility, including bending, kneeling, squatting and reaching.
Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
