About the Role
Join the Team in the Nordic Area as the Nordic Operations Manager and be responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the Nordic area. As this is a year-round role, focus will change over the course of the year from people focused in the winter season, to project oriented over the rest of the year. A major part of this role is taking on projects in the Nordic Area. This includes the development, planning, finalizing supplies lists, managing teams, execution and fulfillment of multiple projects.
The Nordic Operations Manager is also responsible for overseeing the Tubing and Sliding area, Nordic base operations, Ski and Snowshoe rentals, and Ski Patrol. They will work closely with the Facilities Manager to upkeep all Nordic facilities to the highest standard, in addition, coordinate with the Nordic Area Manager to assist in the existing trail operations support team. They will work closely with other department managers within the Nordic area as well as overall operations (snow removal, grooming, fleet maintenance and downhill base operations) to ensure that the Nordic are is operationally successful day-to-day. They will ensure that all interactions with our guests are held to the highest service standards. They are a team player who leads by example in the performance and are not afraid to get their hands dirty! Effective communication skills, and a positive problem solving attitude are essential.
Requirements
Hands on execution of construction projects including, civil, steel, wood, and concrete fabrication
Ability to use a wide variety tools
Procurement of project materials
Asset to have or willing to learn general electrical knowledge
Asset to have or willing to learn general use of heavy duty equipment
Oversee Hiring/Training for Nordic Operations team: Tube Area, Ski Patrol, Maintenance/Parking, and Rentals
Work with the Nordic Area manager to address any issues or opportunities for improvements
Coordinate with the Facilities Maintenance Manager on any building or facility repair needs
Develop and establish operational guidelines including, risk management in the allocation of staff for the following : Tubing/sliding Area, Nordic Maintenance, Nordic Ski Patrol
Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
Ensuring staff exceed the highest level of guest service in the performance of their duties
Perform a daily assessment of risk of Nordic area and perform maintenance as required
Coordinates activities with Downhill Base Operations and Snow Removal for Parking/Road incidents, Security issues, and any other items as necessary to support the overall operation
Complete payroll and HR issues as they arise
Other projects/duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
Well organized, punctual, hardworking, self-motivated and outgoing
Experience managing diverse team in a fast pace environment
Ability to give and receive feedback
Experience with construction and general repairs
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience operating heavy equipment (front end loaders, bobcats, excavators) a plus
Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50lbs
Work shift work, holidays and overtime as required
Salary/Wage
70,000/annually
