About the Role
The Nordic Host Supervisor is responsible for managing and scheduling Nordic Hosts as well as the performing the Nordic Host duties.
Nordic Hosts are responsible for setting up/take down of the Nordic base area and managing the Nordic base area each day/evening. In addition to checking tickets/passes Nordic Hosts are responsible for answering questions, providing direction to guests and surveying/soliciting feedback from guests. Nordic Hosts are expected to liaise with other departments, most notably Food and Beverage, Rentals, Nordic Patrol and Guest Services.
Requirements
Basic knowledge regarding ski preparation and waxing for a variety of snow conditions
Scheduling and supervising Nordic Hosts
Problem solving regarding customer service issues
Knowledge regarding the implementation and use of the RFID system
Ticket and pass checking as well as guest surveys
Know the contents and procedures for all ski and snowshoe programs as well as upcoming special events
Maintain daily written logs
Assist guests with skis/snowshoes and be familiar with a variety of binding systems for both ski and snowshoe
Assist with the setup and maintenance of the base area training grid as required
Assist with the maintenance of the Lights to the Lodge snowshoe trails
Communicate with Guest Relations and liaise/assist with Food and Beverage when appropriate
Ability to work a flexible schedule that meets the demands of peak season and other busy times (evenings, weekends, holidays)
Meet company standards for attendance and punctuality
QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
Must have a great attitude about learning new things
Computer skills and familiarity and comfort with the use of touch screens
Intermediate skiing ability is an asset
Ability to be a self-starter and work unsupervised
Group management and leadership experience
Ability to take direction and accept feedback
Ability to work with multiple departments
Physically fit and be comfortable walking on and shoveling snow. Other forms of manual labour may include setting snow fencing, tent set up, ladder work and trail maintenance
Comfortable working in a wide variety of weather conditions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to speak confidently in public
Be accountable and take personal responsibility
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Be a team player and display a positive attitude
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Previous guiding/instructing experience or other experience that required wilderness/outdoor problem-solving skills
Previous customer service and complaint resolution skills are assets
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must be able to legally work in Canada
Advanced wilderness first aid, basic avalanche, and other outdoor certifications, although not required, are assets
Valid driver’s license.
A reliable/insured vehicle with winter tires to get to/from work (shift start/end times are outside shuttle bus hours).
