About the Role
The Loss Prevention officer is responsible for the safety of the Property, Guest, and Employees. The successful candidate must be able to work a permanent night shift.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees the Loss Prevention Department
Embodies a forward-moving, highly collaborative, fully accountable and inspired positive mindset with a service focus.
Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety protocol
Performs minor maintenance fixes that may include building, painting, plumbing, and electrical repairs as necessary
Follows proper key control guidelines for the property.
Assists the facility Manager in administering fire prevention programs and emergency preparedness.
Develops a monthly checklist for all security camera, alarmed doors to ensure that they are fully functional.
Patrol and monitor all areas of property interior and exterior. Walk all property areas and secure any entry doors and exit doors.
Work with all departments and managers; collaborate about how to best protect the property
Handles complaints, settles disputes, and resolves conflicts in a professional manner
Monitors and logs all unusual activities in and around the property that would impair the well-being of guests and employees.
Oversees all loss prevention operations including but not limited to patrol process, emergency response, investigations (initial & follow up) for all guest and employee-related incidents
Manage or assist in managing disruptive guest and / or uninvited individuals entering the hotel
Maintains logs, certifications and documents as per our Standard Operating Procedures.
Must develop a strong knowledge of the hotel and local area.
Proficient working closely with RCMP, community services, and outreach programs to continually improve the downtown experience.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent – trades certificate an asset
1 year experience in Security / Loss Prevention or related professional area (3 years preferred)
Security certificate or license is preferred but not required
Experience working independently
Level 1 First Aid preferred
Professional demeanor, positive attitude, and strong teamwork and cooperation skills
Excellent, proven conflict management skills
Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment
Adherence to clear instruction, policies, and protocol, take direction and show initiative to ensure hotel standards are maintained
Strong oral communication skills and solid written skills
Solid computer skills using multiple applications
Available for a variety of shifts (i.e., weekday, weekend, morning, evening, holidays, overnights)
Physically capable of pushing, pulling, bending kneeling, standing, or walking for majority of shift, and lifting up to 20 lbs
Criminal record check is required
Must have Class 5 License
Must be willing to work in Kamloops, BC
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
