About the Role
Working in the kitchen, service areas & guest areas, the Kitchen Steward keeps the kitchen spotless to ensure that every plate, fork and glass used are gleaming as well as support the culinary team with daily prep duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in preparing food – i.e. cutting up vegetables, preparing side dishes, etc as needed
Ensuring the Food Service department has adequate levels of tableware and kitchenware
Keeping dish area neat and clean, assist in the cleaning of the kitchen
Operate large dishwashing machines
Clean/sweep/mop kitchen counters, walls, cooling, storage and trash areas
Scrape/scrub plates, utensils, pots and pans
Deep-cleaning according to schedule, including bathrooms
Put away all cooking and serving items
Assist in taking ongoing inventory of ingredients to ensure nothing is running
Empty trash; maintain trash area
Picking up dishes
Follow Interior Health sanitation procedures
Late shift focused on thorough deep cleaning of all kitchen areas
Performs other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs
Requirements
Experience working in a kitchen is preferred
Can work with minimal supervision
Able to multi-task in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Ability to take initiative
Must be willing to work in Kamloops, BC
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Working conditions
Fast-paced environment
Majority of the time consists of working alone
Loud environment
Variety of hours- morning, afternoon, evening, weekends, weekdays, holidays
Physical requirements
Ability to push, pull, reach, bend, stoop and lift to 50 pounds
Constant standing and walking for a minimum of 4 hours at one time
Occasional ascending or descending flights of stairs

$16.75 - $17.58
