About the Role

The Heavy Duty Vehicle Mechanic will report to the Fleet, Facilities & Purchasing Manager and will be responsible to maintain mobile and stationary equipment at KHMR including snow cats, winch cats, snowmobiles, ATVs, Heavy Equipment and fleet vehicles. The Heavy Duty Vehicle Mechanic will be familiar with generators, hydrostatic and hydraulic systems, diagnose vehicle electrical problems, and adjust, replace or repair defective components.

Requirements

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure performance, safety and longevity of the equipment

  • Dismantle components to examine for excessive wear or damage

  • Repair, replace, clean, and lubricate parts as necessary

  • Maintain and calibrate vehicle electrical systems

  • Monitor hydraulic systems for fluid leaks, ruptured hoses, worn gaskets, etc and calibrate or replace components when necessary

  • Maintain an open and trustworthy relationship with respect to communication amongst staff and the Maintenance Manager

  • Initiate, manage and delegate daily work assignments with minimal supervision

  • Maintain records of work completed and report on all shop related activities within the CMMS

  • Perform all maintenance and repair tasks in a cost-effective and fiscally responsible manner

  • Assist the Maintenance Manager with the preparation of annual budget for vehicle maintenance

  • Ensure safety and good housekeeping practices

  • Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program

  • Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must be in possession of a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic’s ticket

  • Minimum 3 years experience working in a heavy duty mechanics role, asset if within the ski industry

  • Applicants who are journeyman welders and/or automotive mechanics will be considered.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Familiarity with Heavy Industrial Equipment (excavators, loaders, skid steers etc.)

  • Previous experience working with snow cats and snowmobiles (key asset)

  • Working knowledge of hydraulics

  • Must hold a current valid driver’s license

  • Previous experience repairing undercarriage and track assemblies

  • Previous experience repairing components such as frames and implements

  • Welding ticket an asset
